Karak gas plant workers end strike

KARAK: The labourers working on construction of liguefied petroleum gas plant at Nashpa oil field ended their strike following successful talks with the company management on Wednesday.

The workers went on strike three days ago over not providing quota in the plant to local people. They blocked the road leadingto the oilhelds.

They said that the company, constructing the plant, was not providing quota to local people in jobs. They claimed that local people had a right to be recruited first in the plant.

The protest remained continued for three days and later tehsil nazim Haji Abdul Wahab along with other members of the council negotiated with the chief admin of Nashpa block retired Col Naseer on behalf of the workers. After successful negotiations, the company decided to give 50 per cent quota to local workers. The workers called ended strike after successful negotiation between the company management and tehsil nazim.

ARRESTED: The tehsildar of Takht-i-Nusrati was caught red handed by anti-corruption establishment while taking bribe from a complainant.

Sources said that on the complaint of a local resident Awal Jan, circle chief of ACE Imran Habibi Thoru along with Magistrate Samad Ali Khan raided the office of Tehsildar Qayanos Khan and caught him red handed while taking bribe of Rs20,000 from the citizen.

The tehsildar was arrested on the spot.
