HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Jails, Anti-Corruption and Natural Resources Manzoor Hussain Wassan has said that a special anti-corruption force is being raised to improve the department`s effectiveness.

Talking to reporters after holding an open katchehry at the Matiari circuit house on Tuesday, the minister said the scope of inquiry by the anti-corruption department was being widened to decide any case of corruption.

The anti-corruption department was being activated and measures were being taken to remove all hurdles that otherwise obstructed the course of inquiry by the department.

He asked the deputy commissioner of Matiari to submit a report to him within a week regarding complaints of corruption in different departments. Corruption by anyone would not be allowed regardless of influence or clout of any officer, he said, adding that development schemes were being executed at a fast pace across Sindh.

He said the officers who resorted to delaying tactics would not be tolerated because the present government believed in serving the masses.

He said the purpose of open katchehry was to hear complaints of people. The problems raised by people would be presented before the Sindh chief minister and they would be accordingly resolved by the ministry concerned, he added.

The minister noted that people had mostly complained against encroachments, illegal occupation of public parks, use of substandard material in development projects besides other issues.
