KARACHI: On the special directive of Education and Literacy Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Wednesday, the Sindh education department announced that summer vacation in all schools would commence on the first of Ramazan.

The decision has been taken keeping in view the hardships of students, their parents and teachers during Ramazan when the mercury level is expected to shoot up.

The provincial government had earlier scheduled summer vacations from June 1to July 31.

With the holy month around the corner, the education minister also directed the secretary of education (schools) to release salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff who had not been paid salaries due to various reasons.

`Releasing funds to the staff in one go is to provide financial relief to them,` he said, adding that the teachers, too, should perform their duty honestly and not provide any chance of complaint against them in future.-Staff Reporter
