LAHORE: A ruling PML-N MPA alleged on Monday that the provincial law minister was behind the repeated attempts made on his life, the latest one, according to him, made on Sept 26.

Speaking on a point of order in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Tahir alleged the latest attempt on his life was made when he was in Faisalabad along with his father.

The chair, being held by Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani at that time, asked him to submit a formal motion on the issue, also pointing out that [the accused] Law Minister Rana Sanaullah was absent because of some urgent engagements in Islamabad and would be available on Thursday.

Later, talking to a group of reporters outside the assembly, Mian Tahir claimed the accused involved in a previous attack on him more than a year ago had been arrested and admitted before the police that they had acted at the behest of Rana Sana.

The MPA pledged to attend the Thursday proceedings of the house with `proofs` of law minister involvement in the attack.

Both Mian Tahir and Rana Sana belong to Faisalabad and had won on PML-N tickets from adjacent constituencies PP-69 and PP-70, respectively falling under the National Assembly seat won by state minister Abid Sher Ali. Mian Tahir is considered an ally of Abid Sher Ali, who is rival of Rana Sana in local politics.

Rana Sana declined to comment on the allegation saying it would be exposed like an earlier `fraud` of Mian Tahir.

He said he would have responded had the allegation been leveled by Abid Sher or his father Sher Ali.
