Three terror suspects killed by CTD

GUJRANWALA: A team of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three terror suspects in an ‘encounter’ here on Monday night.

Official sources said the terrorists belonging to Al-Qaeda wanted to target sensitive places in Gujranwala.

A CTD team followed them in Aroop police area and ordered them to surrender but they opened fire.

The team retaliated and killed three of them who were later identified as Haji Sadiq, Shahbab and Saleem. Two of their accomplices managed their escape.

The CTD sources claimed to have seized two pistols, a Kalashnikov and some explosive material.

Our Multan Correspondent adds: The Counter Terrorism Department arrested five terror suspects from the General Bus Stand after one kilogram explosive material, connected with a detonator and time device, was recovered from the premises on Monday.

Sources privy to the development told the media two hand grenades were also seized.

The bomb disposal squad was called to defuse the time device.

They said that after the recovery of explosives, a search operation was conducted by the CTD and other law enforcement agencies at the stand.

During the operation, five suspects, identified as Abdul Nasir, Ammar Bilal, Amir Usman, Taimour Rafique and Ishtiaq, were arrested. They were said to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
