Islamabad to get nursing university

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) has finalised all arrangements for the construction of King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences.

The King of Bahrain is being requested to allocate funds for the construction.

The university will cater to 2,000 students and provide 500 admissions annually.

Residential facility will be provided to 1,000 female students in the campus.

King Hamad during his visit to Pakistan in 2014 had announced his decision to provide funding for the university as a gift for the people of Pakistan. It was decided that Pakistan would provide land and utility services for the university whereas the construction would be financed by the Bahrain government.

An of ficial of the ministry of NHS, who was not authorised to speak on record, said the institute would produce top quality professionals who would serve the ailing humanity.

`Though it took two years to allocate land and complete other requirement s but finally all the requirements have been completed and the Minister NHS Saira Afzal Tarar has taken up the matter with the authorities of Bahrain,` he said.

`As many as 237 kanals of land has been allocated near the National Institute of Health and Health Service Academy, providing the students and staff of both the institutions to acquire knowledge from there,` he said.
