LAHORE The protesting employees of the health department ended agitation on Thursday after reaching an agreement with the department`s senior officials.

Dialogues were held at the Directorate General Health Services office between the representatives of the protesters and the health department.

The allied health professionals, dengue programme workers, lady health workers (LHWs), vaccinators and the employees of the DG Health Punjab were protesting for the last six days for service structure and pay raise.

Both sides agreed that the four-tier service structure of the paramedics will be implemented by the Lahore executive district officer (Health) as per directions of the Director General Health Punjab on Aril 22, 2015.

The suggestions for the LHWs to be declared as civil servants was agreed upon, subject to the condition that undertaking will be taken from all lady health workers, lady health supervisors and other employees of the National Programme for Family Planning and Primary Healthcare regarding their willingness for application of the terms and conditions as civil servant.

Similarly, the case of the entomologists and all other employees who were working in the dengue programme was proposed to be considered for regularisation.

Both sides also agreed thattheSundayleaveofdengue employees should be permissible and if in case of emergency they would be given leave on an alternate day or extra allowance for overtime.

The representatives ofthe health department and the employees signed documents of the agreed items after successful dialogue.
