PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday asl(ed the federal government to share the nationwide power generation data with his government and ensure the provision of its 13.5 percent allocated electricity quota to the province help end loadshedding.

He said this while presiding over a high-level meeting convened at the Chief Minister`s Secretariat to discuss the unscheduled loadshedding and other related issuesin the province.

Ministers Inayatullah Khan, Sil(andar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Mohammad Atif Khan and Shah Farman Khan, MPA Mian Khaliqur Rehman, Peshawar district nazim Mohammad Asim, Pesco chief Anwarul Haq Yousafzai and energy secretary Naeem Khan also attended the meeting.

The participants discussed the issue of the frequent loadshedding and other Pesco-related matters in detail.

The Pesco authorities informed the meeting about the steps being taken for improvement of transmission line, elimination of line losses and decreasing loadshedding hoursin the province.

The participants decided the launch of a joint awareness campaign by the provincial government and Pesco in theprovince on May 1 to discourage illegal use of electricity and convince power consumers to clear dues to reduce loadshedding in the province.

The chief minister ordered the Pesco authorities to ensure reduction in line losses to overcome loadshedding.

He ordered the constitution of a high-level committee headed by the energy secretary and consisting of Pesco officials and nazims to make recommendations for reduction in line losses.

The participants approved the repairs of faulty transformers at the Pesco-approved workshops.

They also decided that the expenditure of the transformer repairs would be paid through TMAs.

The chief minister directed all administrative secretaries, including those of education, public health engineering and irrigation, to keep a close liaison with the Pesco authorities to speed up the implementation of the delayed electrification schemes.

He assured the Pesco authorities of the government`s full cooperation in checking illegal use of electricity and recovery of Pesco dues to end loadsheddingin the province.

The chief minister also ordered a crackdown on the Pesco staff involved in misuse of electricity. APP
