HEC okays Rs63m for IUB projects

BAHAWALPUR: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved Rs63 million for upgradation of various departments and construction of new buildings at the Islamia University.

This was stated by IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar while presiding over a meeting of the syndicate.

According to a press release, the VC informed the meeting that USAID had also granted Rs300 million to the university to train its teachers. In this connection, he said, a new building would be constructed.

Besides, he said, thePunjab government had approved Rs465 million for installation of a solar energy plant which would be used in the institution.

PROTEST: Office-bearers of the Anjuman-i-Tajran, Civil Society Network and other social bodies on Wednesday protested at Farid Gate the police brutality in Lahore.

The participants raised slogans against the Punjab government and demanded arrest of the killers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers.

The PAT workers organised a protest camp at Farid Gate demanding action against the police officials who opened fire on innocent people.
