Tribal elders` help sought in restoration of peace

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that restoration of peace is need of the hour and it is top most priority of the government.

He said that tribal people and elders should share the responsibility of the government by playing their role in maintaining peace in their respective areas, according to a handout.

The governor was talking to a delegation of Salarzai, Tarkani and Utmankhel tribes of Bajaur Agency that called on him atGovernor`s House here on Wednesday.

The delegation was led by MNA Shahabuddin and MNA Haji Bismillah Khan.

Senator Hidayatullah, Fata Additional Chief Secretary Arbab Mohammad Arif, Principal Secretary to Governor Dr Mohammad Fakhari-Alam and political agent of the agency were also present on the occasion.

The governor said that services and sacrifices of the tribes of Bajaur Agency in the war against terrorism are highly valuable and well-acknowledged.

He said that tribal people proved thatPakistan was dearer to them than their lives.

Appreciating the spirit of patriotism of the tribal elders, he said that they would never hesitate to offer any sacrifice in future too.

The delegation apprised the governor about some of the problems and difficulties being faced by the people of Bajaur Agency.

The governor assured the delegation of taking necessary steps to resolve the problems.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Fata parliamentarians also called on the governor on Wednesday.

The delegation, led by MNA Haji BismillahKhan and MNA Shahabudin Khan, was consisted of MNA Ghalib Khan, MNA Jamaluddin from South Waziristan Agency, MNA Haji Shahji Gul Afridi from Khyber Agency, MNA Bilal Rehman from Mohmand Agency, MNA Ghazi Gulab Jamal from Orakzai Agency and MNA Qaisar Jamal and senators Haji Khan Afridi, Idrees Khan Safi, Najmul Hassan, Maulana Saleh Shah, Hilal Rehman, Eng Rasheed Khan and Abbas Khan Afridi.

They remained with the governor for some time and discussed matters pertaining to wellbeing of the people of Fata. -Bureau Report
