KARACHI: The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board workers have warned that if the civic agency did not pay the promised additional allowance of 25 per cent within 72 hours, they would stop working in the East and South districtmunicipal corporations.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Local Government Anti-Privatisation Committee leaders Kaneez Fatima, Zulfiqar Shah and others said that the SSWMB management had agreed to pay an additional allowance of 25pc to the workers but despite lapse of many months the payment had not yet been made. They said the non-payment of the allowance to the workers showed that the SSWMB was not sincere in keeping its promise. So the workers had decided that if the payment was not made within 72 hours, they would stop working in DMCs South and East from Friday. They said the chairmen of the DMCs had also been informed about it.
