MANSEHRA: A local court has summoned SHO of Shinkiari police station after a widow approached him to register an FIR against a man for forcing her to marry with his son.

“A local man sent a proposal for me to marry his son, and when I declined, he along with his sons attempted to kidnap me, but my family members and neighbours rescued me. But, they are now threatening me of dire consequences,” the widow told a news conference here on Tuesday.

The woman, who belongs to remote Gori Schain area, appealed to the additional sessions judge Lubna Zaman to order police to register FIR against the accused Mohammad Farooq. According to her, she was mother of three girls and didn’t want to marry with anybody.

Abdul Wahab, the woman’s counsel, said the judge had summoned SHO of Shinkiari police to appear in court along with the woman today (Wednesday) to clarify his position.

He said his client had urged police to lodge FIR against the accused, but her grievances were not addressed which compelled her to move court.
