By Our Correspondent 2015-08-19
KARAK:TheAssociation of Retired Professors of Karak district has demanded of the government to establish girls high schools in all the backward areas of the district and launch classes in the newlyestablished government girls degree colleges from the coming academic year.

The association made the demand here on Tuesday at its meeting, which was chaired by its district president retired Prof Bakht Jamal. Several retired educationists of the district were also present on the occasion.

They regretted that many backward areas of the district were still without girls` high school, which was a big impediment in promoting female education.

They said that access to education was the right of the girls of the district.

They said that construction of the girls` degree college, Sabirabad, was completed about two years ago and the contractor had handed overitto the education department.

They said that the girls` degree college, Banda Daud Shah, had also been completed, but the government failed to make these colleges functional. They demanded of the government to start classes in these institutions from the coming educational session, starting from September.

The meeting noted that the state of female education was already not very good in the district due to shortage of educational institutions for girls and the parents were forced to settle in big cities for the sake of higher education of their children.

The meeting demanded that more girls` colleges should be established in the district to overcome the shortage of colleges. It also demanded provision of sufficient staff to the already functionalcolleges.

They hoped that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insafled provincial government would fulfil their demands as it had imposed educational emergency in the province.
