Sabotage attempt foiled PESHAWAR, Oct 18: Police foiled a possible sabotage attempt and defused a powerful explosive device in Hayatabad area here on Thursday.

An official of Tatara police station said that the bomb had been planted on a roadside in Sector F5, but the police timely defused it after getting the information in this regard.

The bomb, he said, weighed about three kilograms and was packed in a canister. He said it was a remote control device. The official said that police used to patrol regularly in the area and the possible target might be the local police.

The official said that police were fully vigilant but the bomb seemed to have been planted by the terrorists some time in the dark of night. `We have initiated search for the suspected persons and plugged the entry and exit points in the limits of the police station,` the official said. Bureau Report Four motorcyclists killed LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 18: At least four people were killed and several others injured in road incidents during the holidays of Eidul Azha.

According to reports, four motorcyclists died on road while displaying stunts. The deceased were identified as Javed, Rehimdad, Parvez and Hathi Khan. They belonged to different localities of the district.

Several bike riders also sustained injuries and were taken to a government hospital for treatment. Some wounded motorcyclists were later referred to Bannu and Peshawar owing to their critical condition. -Correspondent Mortar shell defused KHAR, Oct 18: The security forces recovered and defused a mortar shell from the busy Inayat Killi by-pass road in Khar tehsil of Bajaur Agency on Friday.

An official of the local administration told reporters that a search operation was carried out in the area after receiving information from the local people about the mortar shell planted on the roadside by unidentified miscreants.

The officials said that if detonated, the mortar shell would have caused huge destruction. The official said that investigation in this regards has been initiated while no arrest had been made so for. Correspondent Waste disposal LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 18: Residents of Lakki city have expressed concern over lack of arrangements to remove offal of sacrificial animals during Eidul Azha.Talking to this correspondent on Friday, they said that tall claims of the bigwigs of Lakki municipal committee to keep the urban 10cality clean and beautiful during eid days proved false. They said the civic body did not make any arrangement to dispose of sacrificial animals` waste.They said that sanitary worlcers spent eid days at their homes instead of turning to duty to remove garbage from Lakki city. They demanded of the higher authorities to order the quarters concerned to remove offal and clean the city by launching a special campaign in this regard. Correspondent Clash claims three lives KHAR, Oct 18: Three persons were killed over a property clash in Naraza area of Salarzai tehsil in Bajaur Agency on Friday evening.

Residents of the area said that Dilwar and his son were passing near the house of Yusuf Khan when armed men of the Yousaf Khan group started indiscriminate firing on them. They said in the ensuing exchange of fire Dilwar and his son Fazal from Dilwar Khan group and Shed Mohammad of Yousaf Khan group were killed on the spot.

Eyewitness said exchange of fire between both the group continued for an hour.

Soon after the incident officials and tribal elders of the area reached the site and arrested several people from both sides According to the local administration, the incident took place due to an old land dispute between the families of Yusuf Khan and Dilwar Khan.

The administration with the help of tribal elders has started investigation into the incident. Correspondent Five die in Landi Kotal LANDI KOTAL, Oct 18: Five persons, three children among them, were killed and eight others were injured in two separate incidents here on Friday.

Officials of the local administration said that three persons including an 11-year-old boy were killed on the spot when rival groups exchanged fire in Ashkhel area. Officials said that Haji Meendar and Habibullah groups had a land dispute. The killed were identified as Shah Madar, Siranuddin and Naveed. The firing incident also resulted in injuries to eight persons out of which condition of five was stated to be critical. The khasadar force arrested two persons each from both the sides and also enforced a temporary ceasefire among the two rival parties.

Meanwhile, two children Abdul Basit (6) and Zulfiqar (5) were 1(illed when a speeding vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in Mukhtar Khel area.Correspondent
