SIALKOT: The deputy commissioner has ordered a probe into an incident in which examination staff allegedly snatched answer sheet form a Class IX student with disability, not allowing him to complete the paper at Uggoki centre.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday by telephone, the DC Dr Asif Tufail said he constituted a team led by District Education Authority CEO Muhammad Farooq to probe into the incident.

He said that the officials found guilty of mistreatment of the student would be brought to task.

The DC said taking examinationwas the right of every candidate and nobody could deprive a student of it because of any disability.

He also ordered special arrangement for candidates with disabilities at the examination centres in the district.

On Saturday, Yahiya Saeed Ahmad, who appeared in Class IX exam being held under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Gujranwala against Roll No 222302, had alleged during a press conference that the examinationstaffattheGovernment Boys Higher Secondary School, Uggoki centre not only mistreated him but also did not allow to complete his paper, snatching his answer sheet.

He had alleged that the staff toldhim to leave the examination centre saying, `you are disturbing other candidates`, when he complained about a `broken chair` he was allotted to attempt the paper.

When the candidate, who is partially paralysed, protested against the staff`s attitude an official allegedly snatched his answer sheet.

Yahiya alleged he was allowed only half of the total examination time to attempt the paper.

Alleging the examination staff tried to ruin his educational carrier, he appealed to the chief minister to order the BISE to allow him to appear in the exam again this year at the same centre.

Local education authorities deny that such an incident occurred at any examination centre.
