Irregularities to be probed

Bureau Report 2017-06-20
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission`s executive board has given approval for investigating alleged irregularities in the purchase of electrical and medical equipment for gynae and pediatrics wards at Ayub Medical Teaching Institute, Abbottabad.

The executive board meeting was chaired by KP Ehtesab Commission`s Director General retired Brig Sajjad Hussain and was attended by Prosecutor General Yahya Zahid Gillani and other relevant officers.

According to a press release, the electrical and medical equipment was purchased in 2013 for newly-constructed wards of gynae and pediatrics, which had yet to start functioning. It is said that the purchased equipment has so far not been made operational. It is claimed that the warranty period of the equipment had also lapsed and that apart from alleged misappropriation in these purchases, the competent authority had also not followed the prescribed rules and regulations.
