LHC case catalogue to go online

LAHORE: Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif said on Saturday Case Flow Management System (CFMS) would be exercised by all seats of the Lahore High Court after the court`s vacation.

Speaking at a media briefing on automation of judiciary and police, he said projects initiated three years back for reforms in criminal justice system had started yielding results. He said around 1,800,000 cases were pending in courts allover Pakistan and an automated judicial system was required to dispense timely justice with utmost transparency.

He said under the automated system cases would not be adjourned till new date was not fixed, which would be determined on case basis and bench load considerations by gradually taking out the manual element.

Mr Saif stated that the automation of Punjab police through technology was now operative in 713 police sta-tions all over the province, which had so far registered 1,194,802 complaints and 878,097 FIRs through FIR Management system.

He said so far 637,635 tenants had been registered under Tenant Registration System (TRS), which traced 7,532 criminals.

He said so far the PITB-developed device issued 3.1 million computerised driving licences and under Anti Vehicle Lifting System (AVLS) 186,013 cases had been registered and 8,097 cars recovered. Staff Reporter
