Education must for Fata uplift: governor

PESHAWAR, Oct 19: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has said that quality education is essential for socio-economic development of Federally Administered Tribal Areas and teachers play an important role in this regard.

He was talking to a group of heads of schools and colleges of Khyber Agency which called on him at the Governor`s House here on Saturday. He said that the government was establishing new educational institutions and ensuring maintenance of others in the tribal areas.

According to a handout, the governor said that without meaningful services of teachers and efficient supervisionthe achievement of desired results in education was not possible. `Special measures are underway to bring structural improvement in educational institutions in Fata and all primary school buildings would have five rooms under a gradual arrangement,` the governor said and added that measures were underway to bring about a qualitative change in working of all educational institutions.

Responding to various points raised by the delegates, the governor said that law and order situation in Khyber Agency was rapidly improving from last couple of months.

He said that problems in Tirah valley of the agency would be fully resolved innear future. He said that `Shuhada` package was meant for all those government servants who had embraced martyrdom in the recent past and if any relatives of a deceased teacher was been left out of the process, details should be furnished for disbursement of full compensation under the package.

In response to a demand for implementation of promotion policy meant for teachers, the governor assured the delegates to make sure that their demand was materialised without any delay.

Prominent among the delegates were Nawab Gul, Gulab Din, Jamshed Khan, Khair Mohammad, Khyber Khan, Hafizullah, Abdul Sattar, Abdul Qadeem and others.
