Action against cable centres in Okara

OKARA: A joint team of the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) raided TV cable centres in the district and took action against those airing Indian channels.

Punjab Pemra Deputy General Manager Ayesha Wattoo led the raids at 25 centres in the district. She got sealed cable centres at villages Jaboka and Satghara and seized the accessories from 12 other centres.

Later, she told a press conference at the Okara Press Club that violators of prohibition would be dealt legally with iron hand.

She said Indian films and news channels were banned in Pakistan. Dish antenna and FM radios were also not allowed to relay Indian contents.

DENGUE: Two dengue patients were admitted tothe Okara District Headquarters Hospital on Wednesday.

The two patients are Tahir and Ali Hassan, both from Pakpatten.

Doctors said they were recovering well.

CASES: An official of Additional Session Court Judge Muhammad Saeed Rafiq has got a case registered with the Saddar policeagainstIsrarAhmad, Ghulam Mohyuddin, Ghulam Muhammad Din and Abid Saleem, of village 35/2R, for submitting fabricated documents in the court to get Abid Saleem released from jail.

Also, the clerk of court of Additional Sessions Court Judge Bakht Fakhar Behzad, of Renala Khurd, got two cases registered against Muhammad Aslam, of village 22/1RB, and Muhammad Akram, of Basti Iqbalnagar, with the Renala Khurd City police.

Theyareaccusedofsubmitting forged documents to the court.
