Spelling Bee regional contest concludes

MULTAN: The two-day DAWN in Education Spelling Bee Competition concluded here on Wednesday.

Around 100 students from 30 schools participated in the 15-17 years age group competition.

Students of schools from Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, Rajanpur and Jhang participated in the competition.

Muneeba Altaf and Salman Zahid of Fatima Fertiliser School, Sadigabad, Rahim Yar Khan and Avania Fatima of Multan PublicSchool and College, Girls Branch, Bosan Road were declared winners in the abovementioned category.

Students in the 9-11 and 12-14 years categories had participated in the first-day contest on Tuesday.

The event was organised by the Dawn Media Group in partnership with theUSEmbassyinIslamabad.

David Purrington was the pronouncer of the competition, while it was adjudged by Uzma Khan and Sidrah Mazari of the Oxford University Press. Dawn moderator was Rabeea Salman.

Three students from each group will qualify for Lahore Regional Championship, which will be held on Nov 5.
