Peshawar attack `suspects` arrested

BAHAWALPUR: The intelligence agencies personnel took into custody two people, including a woman, from a Hasilpur locality on Friday in connection with the attack on a Peshawar school on Tuesday.

Dawn learned the agencies tracked a mobile phone SIM seized on one of the attackers of the Peshawarschoolandfound the SIM card was in the name of a woman, of Khairo Deh in the remote area of Qaimpur in tehsil Hasilpur, 75 kilometres from Bahawalpur.

The team took into custody Shazia Parveen, aged between 20 to 25 years, and shifted her to some undisclosed location for interrogation.

Dawn learned that on her information, the agencies also picked up Rizwan Arshad from Hasilpur who ran the franchise of a telecom operator and the SIM was sold and activated from his franchise. Rizwan was also shifted to some undisclosed location.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Law-enforcement agencies arrested some suspects in connection with the Peshawar carnage at Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur, sources told Dawn.

According to the sources, two suspects were arrested in a joint operation at the two cities.

The sources claimed the suspects belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The district police officer told this correspondent an operation was conducted, which resulted in the arrests.

He refused to divulge more details.

Sources said one arrest each was made from Noshera in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. The Rajanpur district police officer (DPO) however denied the arrest of any suspect.
