Exhibition showcases Chinese products

RAWALPINDI, March 20: In a bid to enhance trade volume with China, the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) opened industrial exhibition titled `China Week` on its premises on Wednesday.

Chinese Ambassador Liu Jian inaugurated the exhibition.

RCCI President Manzar Khurshid and other industrialists, traders and businessmen were present on the occasion.

More than six Chinese companies have established their stalls at the exhibition, displaying cars, motorcycles, leather products, garments and other items. Some local businessmen and producers have also put up their products.

While inaugurating the exhibition, Chinese Ambassador said that Pakistan and China enjoyed best mutual, trade, bilateral, cultural and social relations and newly elected government of Peoples Republic of China would en-hance relations with Pakistan at all levels.

`I will invite Chinese businessmen to invest in Pakistan to boost bilateral trade ties,` he said.

The ambassador also praised the RCCI for organizing China Week and offered cooperation in arranging such programmes in future.

He said that Pakistan was the second largest trading partner of China in South Asia.

Speaking on the occasion RCCI president Manzar Khurshid Sheikh said that trade volume between the two countries had reached $12.4 billion in the last few years.

He said handing over of Gowder Port to China would open new horizons for China to capture trading roots of the world.

The RCCI President said that Rawalpindi Chamber would also organise single country expo in China to maintain direct interaction with the business community of China.

He said that RCCI had organised 20 international expos in a year and this year it planned to hold ten exhibitions.
