Sanitary condition of schools worsens

ISLAMABAD, March 20: With the strike by non-teaching staff including sweepers entering 15th day, the sanitary condition of the federal schools has worsened.

On Wednesday, teachers and students of different schools and colleges joined hands to clean their institutions.

A teacher of model college Sector I-9 said that because of the strike sweepers have not entered the school for the last 15 days. As a result of which the condition of bathrooms has got worse and papers,shopping bags and other garbage littered the grounds.

`Classrooms could not be swept, and teachers and students are forced to sit in filthy and stinking environment,` she said.

`Principal of the college tried to call sweepers of CDA who sits in I-9 market during day timing but the striking staff did not allow them to enter the school,` she said.

Maqbool Ahmed father of a student said that his son had been complaining about poor hygienic condition in his school but he had no choiceleft as he was appearing in annual examination.

In H-8 College early in the morning Principal Kazim Hussain announced that teachers and students will clean the college. He instructed some teachers to buy 60 sweepers.

Principal himself started cleaning corridors of the building due to which teachers and students also enthusiastically participated in the campaign. Some students broke branches of the trees and used them for cleaning the classrooms.-A Reporter
