2016-03-21
DACCA: Pakistan`s Foreign Minister, Mr Z. A.

Bhutto, said today [March 20] it was the duty of every person to protect and safeguard the integrity of Pakistan.

He was speaking on a resolution regarding the activities of some Opposition elements in the country at the Council meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League. He said the Muslim Leaguers were synonymous with the very destiny of Pakistan.

Referring to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman`s sixpoint programme, Mr Bhutto declared he was prepared to go the length and breadth of East Pakistan and discuss the six-point programme with Sheikh Mujib from the same platform. This was a challenge not by a Foreign Minister but as an ordinary Muslim League member, Mr Bhutto said amidst cheers.

He said Pakistan was `eternal and unbreakable` because Islam was eternal and unbrealcable.

He said Palcistan was the continuance of man`s struggle for freedom. It is one of the great pillars of revolution and emancipation that is taking place in Asia today. Pakistan, he said, was the culmination of the struggle of good against evil.

The Information Minister, Khwaja Shahabuddin, former Minister Abdul Waheed Khan, Mr Ghulam Nabi, Dr Huda, Mr Fazlul Bari and Mr A.K. Sumar were among those who spoke on different resolutions.

Most of the speakers at the concluding session of the two-day meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League Council warned the people against the `move` for dismembering the country and urged them not to be swayed by propaganda. They also refuted the Opposition allegation that there was no autonomy under the present system and that the elections were not on the basis of adult franchise.

They pointed out that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, the provinces had been given maximum autonomy, so much so that the concurrent list had been abolished in the present Constitution and the Central list had been brought down to theminimum.-Staff Correspondent
