Online pension

2016-03-21
I R ETIR ED in 2006 from Punjab government service. A pensioner`s book was issued to me. Every month I would visit the NBP branch near my home, give a pensiondrawing bill duly filled in and signed before 25th of the month to a designated official.

He would enter in my pensioner`s book the amount to be received on the fourth of next month. This had been working well for the last 10 years. Any increase in my pension would be entered in the pensioner`s book by the same official of the bank. I had practically no link with AG, Punjab, or the district accounts office.

Recently, I visited the bank to submit my pension bill. The bank official told me that from the first of March, pension would be paid online. He advised me to download a couple of papers from the Internet and complete certain formalities from court and AG, Punjab, office. I do not find any reason for this change for elderly people. I request the Punjab chief minister to allow us to draw our pension as before.
