Majority of militancy-hit schools rebuilt in Maidan

TIMERGARA: Majority of the militancy-hit schools in Maidan area here have been rebuilt and work on others is underway, said speakers at a ceremony arranged to formally inaugurate a reconstructed government girls` primary school at Bandai Maidan on Tuesday.

The girls` school was blown up by militants in 2009 and since then the residents have been demanding its reconstruction. The school was rebuilt by the Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas (Raha) project with the help of local parentteacher council. The project costRs1.8 million.

The function in this regard was held at the school where Lal Qilla assistant commissioner Hikmatullah Wazir was the chief guest. Jamaat-i-Islami Maidan zone chief Fazal Wahab and Raha coordinator Imran Khan were also present on the occasion.

They said that reconstruction of the Bandai Maidan school was a longstanding demand of the local population and the parents took a sigh of relief with its rebuilding.

DISTRICT SHURA: Jamaat-iIslami announced its 37-member Lower Dir district Shura (council) as the elections completed here on Tuesday.

According to a press release, ofthe 1,130 registered members 1,000 voted for election of Shura members through a secret ballot. Prominent among the Shura members are; Malik Sher Bahadar, Mohammad Salim advocate, Hakim Khan, district nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan, provincial minister Muzaf far Said, former MPA Inayatul Haq, former district nazim Ihsanul Haq, Mohammad Waris, MNA Sahibzada Yaqub Khan and Fazal Wahab. Also in the day the Jamiat Tulba Arabia, the seminary students` wing of JI, held a protest rally in front of Timergara Press Club against the Israeli atrocities on Palestinians.Timergara nazim Riaz Mohammad led the protesters and he and JTA district head Irfanuddin, JI deputy general secretary Shafiullah and other local activists addressed the rally. They demanded of the UN to break its silence and take notice of the Israeli atrocities against the innocent Palestinians.

KILLED: A man allegedly killed his wife over a domestic dispute at Nasafa Talash late on Monday night. Talash police said that they had arrested Bakht Biland of Rabat village for killing his wife and allegedly recovered a pistol from his possession. Talash police registered the case and have started investigation.
