GUJRAT: The authorities have retrieved 24.5 kanals of the Government High School for Boys, Dak Chiban, Sara-iAlamgir, from the illegal possession spanning 53 years.

The people of the village had donated the said piece of land to the school when it was upgraded to elementary school from a primary school in 1962 but the school administration could not get its possession despite of the fact that the land had been transferred in the name of school.

Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Shoaib Nissoana had retrieved demarcated the land about two months back and gave its possession to the school administration now.

The Punjab government had allocated Rs20m for construction of an academic block in the school around two years back but the funds had repeatedly lapsed due to the unavailability of land.
