By Our Correspondent 2017-05-22
KARAK: Different rights organisations have set the authorities May 23 deadline to improve the gas pressure and end excessive power outages in Karak, otherwise they will take to the streets.

This was decided at a joint meeting of the Khattak Ittehad (KI), Awami Rabita Committee and Chountra Ittehad at Town Hall Karak here on Sunday with KI district president Maulana Mirzageem in the chair.

On the occasion, the speakers, including Maulana Mirzageem, Farooq Khan, Malik Imran, Haji Hayat, Haji Gul Shah Mir and Sardar Khan criticised the Pesco, SNGPL and public health engineering department for not providing electricity, gas and drinking water to the residents.

They claimed that the locals were f acing loadshedding of more than 20 hours, saying many parts of Karak were without power supply for last three days.

They said the people were also facing water shortage in the hot weather. The participants condemned the indifferent attitude of the elected representatives.

They resolved that they would no more wait for the lofty promises of the elected representatives and would launch a decisive protest movement for resolution of their problems.

JOB QUOTA: A physically challenged girl of Tarkikhel village of Ghundi Mir Khankhel union council has alleged violation of the quota of disable persons in government departments. She claimed that the persons who were appointed on the quota of disable persons were not physically challenged.

Talking to mediapersons, Saima Khattak said she wanted to convey to the provincial government that in the education and other departments posts specified for disabled persons had been filled with those candidates who were not disable at all, but had produced f ake disability certificates.

She regretted that the government had fixed quota for the physically challenged persons in departments, but it was being misused by greedy people.

The girl demanded of the provincial government and the NAB to make an inquiry into the matter and take action against those who prepared fake certificates.
