Romanian envoy keen on enhanced trade with Pakistan

TAXILA: Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Nicolae Goia here on Sunday expressed his strong desire to give a new impetus to relations between Pakistan and his country.

He was talking to newsmen after attending a function arranged by Syed Ahsan Shah, the vice president of Pakistan-Romania Friendship Association, at Zaildar House in Taxila.

In response to a question, Mr Goia said there was a big room for enhancing relations between the two friendly countries, especially in the field of trade and investment, as the potential of both the countries was yet to be exploited.

Currently, he added, the volume of trade between Romania and Pakistan was $300 million with the balance in favour of Romania.

He said Pakistan was an entirely dif ferent country than it was being portrayed by the western media.

He said he would call upon industrialists and investors to project Pakistan`s tolerant, peaceful and friendly face to the world.

Mr Goia also stressed the need for opening new vistas of cooperation between the two countries. He said Pakistan was rich in agriculture and financial resources while Romania was keen to establish business-to-business contacts with Islamabad.

He said exchange of delegations always helped in bolstering relations between countries.
