COAS meets German foreign minister

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday met German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the German foreign ministry.

The discussion between the two focused on bilateralism, regional security and peace in region, according to an ISPR news release issued here.

The German foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan`s contribution to the war against terrorism and regional peace. Germany understands Pakistan`s challenges and assured full support for Pakistan`s efforts for stability and peace in the region.

The COAS held an interactive session in Koerber Foundation, a renowned think tank in Berlin.

Objective and candid discourse on the country`s environment and security issues was held.

The COAS explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan and its contribution towards peace and stability in the region. He said Pakistan would soon complete the Zarb-i-Azb military operation after successfully clearing Fata and busting networks of militants. `We have sacrificed immensely, more than any other nation.` -APP
