Research centre to be set up in Karak varsity

KARAK: Vice-chancellor of Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak, Prof Ibrahim Khattak has said that more departments and a research centre would be established in the varsity to provide latest facilities to the students.

He was speaking at a meeting of the varsity`s academic council here on Wednesday. He said that new departments would be established soon to provide more opportunities of higher education to the students of the district.

Mr Khattak said that the university would soon have a research centre equipped with latest facilities. The meeting was attended by registrar Mohammad Anwar, former dean of the University of Peshawar Prof Naeemur Rehman, media studies department chairman Prof Mirza Jan and other relevant officials.

WATER SHORTAGE: The elders of Takki village and adjacent localities have demanded of the district government to make functional the two water supply schemes installed in the area to overcome drinking water shortage.

They were speaking during a meeting with Islahi Jirga president Mohammad Sardar here on Wednesday. The residents told the meeting that two water supply schemes were completed in the area with a cost of Rs6 million during the previous government. They said that pipelines had already been laid and connections provided, but the water supply was yet to be started.

They demanded of the district government to approve the required funds for the schemes and start water supply to the residents as soon as possible.
