Khall residents lament lack of health, education facilities

TIMERGARA: The local government representatives and political activists have lamented stoppage of construction work on a bridge, lack of government schools, non-availability of health facilities and closure of water supply schemes in Khall tehsil.

They raised the issues at an open court on Wednesday.

MPA from PK-93 Sahibzada Sanaullah Khan, district councillor Malik Mohammad Zeb, former provincial minister Malik Jehanzeb, officials of line departments and local elders were in attendance.

Coming down hard on the JI, the speakerssaidthepartylawmakershadannounced construction of a 24km road in Toormang Dara area but the project was delayed due to defeat of its candidate Malak Azam Khan in the PK-93 by-election.

They also criticised the non-government organisations for failure to provide facilities to the local people.

Government officials on the occasion assured to address the problems of the residents on priority basis.

TWO KILLED: Two motorcyclistswere killed when their bil(e collided with a passenger van at Tarai area in the jurisdiction of Timergara police station on Wednesday, police and residents said.

They said Abdul Razag and Gul Badshah, residents of Koza Banda, Swat, were coming to Timergara on a motorcycle when it was hit by a speeding passenger van at Tarai, killing them on the spot.

The police took the van driver, Shehzad Khan of Darbar Chakdara, in custody, and registered a case against him.

NAZIM DIRECTIVES: The Lower Dir naib nazim Abdul Rashid on Wednesday visited the basic health unit in Khadagzai and expressed anger over the absence of lady doctor there, lack of facilities at labour room, and directed the health department to make the health unit functional.

Talking to journalists he said the government had established the BHU to facilitate 60,000 people of Khadagzai, Badwan and Dushkhel but its deteriorating condition reflected poorly on the government`s healthcare delivery.

BUDGET PASSED: The Munda tehsilcouncil on Wednesday approved Rs18.87 million budget for the year 2015-16, at a meeting chaired by naib nazim Hassan Ali Shah.

Tehsil nazim Humayun Khan while presenting the budget told the house that Rs9.45 million would be spent on development projects and Rs7.745 million had been set aside for salaries of government employees and meeting expenses of the nazim and naib nazim of fices. Some tehsil councilors asked the nazim and naib nazim to decrease expenses on their offices and spend the amount on people`s welfare activities.

FACILITIES SOUGHT: Six village council nazims from Khungi union council have asked the district administration to provide the polio workers transportation facility so they could perform their duties wholeheartedly during the upcoming anti-polio drive.

The demand was made during a meeting of the union council polio eradication committee at Balambat on Wednesday.
