KHAR: A personnel of Bajaur Levies was shot dead in Laghari area of Mamond tehsil late on Saturday, local administration officials and eyewitnesses said, adding a coIIeague of the deceased security official also shot and killed the fleeing attacker.

Officials and eyewitnesses told Dawn that Jabin Khan, a Havaldar in Bajaur Levies, along with a colleague was on way home from a checkpost in Leghari area when an unknown armed man opened fire on them, killing Jabin Khan on the spot.

The local people said another levies personnel accompanying Jabin Khan fired on the attacker, killing him.

Meanwhile, the local administration has initiated investigation into the incident.

An official told Dawn on Sunday that a proper inquiry had been launched to investigate the motive behind the killing.

However, the official refused to say whether or not it was a targeted killing.Correspondent
