Over 120 headmasters appointed to Mansehra schools

MANSEHRA: The education department has appointed headmasters to 127 primary schools in Mansehra district.

The appointments come following the promotion of the teachers to the headmaster posts lying vacant for many years.

District education officer (male) Zafar Arbab Abbasi told reporters here on Thursday that he hoped that the appointments would help further the cause of education in the district.

He said top vacancies in other schools were also being filled.

The DEO said the departmenthad asked the newly-appointed headmasters to assume the offices without delay.

Meanwhile, the offices of the district education of ficer (female) are also busy filling the vacant headmaster posts at 15 primary girl schools in the district.

A relevant official told Dawn that the process to promote 15 BPS-14 teachers and post them to the schools to fill head teacher vacancies was under way.

He said around 60 BPS-12 women teachers were being promoted.

MAN KILLED: A woman allegedly killed her husband by poisoning in Shinkiari area here on Thursday.The Shinkiari police arrested Saima, mother of four, after she told them that she had killed her husband for forcing her to live with him even after verbally divorcing her.

The woman said she gave her husband poison in the garb of syrup.

CHEQUES GIVEN AWAY: The social welfare department on Thursday distributed cheques of Rs5,000 each to 30 people with disabilities here.

PTI MPA Nargis Ali gave away the cheques during a special ceremony held at the Social Welfare Complex in Ghazikot Township here.

She said the PTI governmentwas striving to address social issues and issued a special grant for the development of the people with disabilities.

The lawmaker said under the programme, more than 2,000 people with disabilities were given cheques of Rs5,000 each in 26 districts of the province.

Also in the day, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court Justice Yahya Afridi visited the site proposed for the Judicial Complex here. The CJ received a warm welcome from judges and lawyers on arrival.

He also discussed matters of bilateral interests with lawyers and asked judges to ensure early disposal of cases.
