Policeman killed in encounter with outlaws

CHARSADDA: A special police officer (SPO) was killed when a gun-battle erupted between a police party and an outlaw and his accomplices during a raid in Nesata area here on Friday.
The police after getting information that a proclaimed offender named Ashfaq was present in the house of his uncle, Bakhtiar, arranged a raiding party. When the personnel reached the area the inmates started firing on them. In the ensuring gun battle, SPO Khadim Hussain of Tarnab was killed, while the outlaw managed to escape.
The police arrested Bakhtiar and his son, Athar, for opening fire on police and helping the culprit to flee.
Later, funeral prayers of Khadim Hussain were offered at the police lines attended by police officers and jawans.
Meanwhile, the security in-charge of the Peshawar High Court, who was injured in an attack in Qazi Kallay area of Peshawar, last week, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
Later, he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Rajar area.
Officials said sub-inspector Hidayatullah of Special Branch was going to work on July 16 when unidentified motorcyclists attacked him in the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station.
He suffered fatal bullet injuries and was shifted to hospital. After remaining in the intensive care unit for six days, he succumbed to his injuries.-Correspondent
