LW MC`s cleanliness drive

LAHORE:Studentsofsome educational institutions of the city launched on Saturday a `war against litter` in Gulshani-Iqbal Park under the `Clean Pakistan` campaign of the Lahore Waste Management Company, in collaboration with The Environment Protection Foundation.

Carrying placards highlighting the importance of cleanliness, some 500 or so students of Lahore Grammar School, Saint Anthony`s, Saint Joseph, SOS children village and CDGL schools, held a wall< in the recreational park around noon.

Accompanied by civil society activists, officials of Turkish companies and representatives of environment protection organisations, the students briefed visitors about the need of individual role for keeping environment clean for a cleaner Pakistan.

Later, the students started sweeping the pavements of the recreational park with brooms. Some visitors also joined them in collecting polythene bags scattered in the park`s lawns.

The walk was led by TV artiste Adeel Hashmi, TEPF Chief Executive Officer Zar Aslam and LWMC head of communications department Jamil Khawar.
