PESHAWAR: A leading trader Haji Lal Mohammad commonly known as Haji Kabul Khan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside his residence at Nishtarabad area here on Sunday night.
Police said that unidentified motorcyclists opened firing on the trader when he stepped out of his car outside his residence. He was taken to Lady Reading Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.An official at Gulbahar police station told Dawn that they shifted the body to the mortuary of Khyber Medical College for autopsy. He said that police would register FIR in the light of the statements to be given by the family members of the deceased.
Meanwhile, a woman schoolteacher belonging to Hindu community went missing while returning from school in the limits of Paharipura police station.
An official said that initially they registered a report in daily diary on Saturday after receiving complaint from Suresh Kumar, a cousin of themissing teacher identified as Sapna Rani.
He said that the complainant told them that the 25-year-old woman was teacher at a private school, situated on G.T. Road near Ayub Flour Mills.
The complainant said that they got worried when she did not return from the school till afternoon.
The official said that the family had no enmity with anyone, but they suspected that she might be kidnapped.
He added that they were conducting an inquiry into the matter and would register a proper FIR if she did not return in a day or two.
