VEHARI: An alleged kidnapper was killed in an encounter with police late on Thursday in the Mailsi City police jurisdiction.

Police said two gunmen broke into the house of Iqbal at Dohata village and tried to kidnap his daughter at gunpoint. As the family resisted them, one of the gunmen opened fire and injured Asma Noreen, a woman of thefamily.

The City police on being alerted arrived at the scene and exchanged hre with the gunmen. One gunman identified as Rashid died on the spot while his accomplice escaped.

Constable Fiaz was also injured in the shootout and admitted to Mailsi Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
