HYDERABAD: Activists of Sunni Tehrik and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Noorani) took out a joint rally here on Wednesday to urge the government to declare official holidays to mark death anniversaries of all the four caliphs of Islam.

The leaders who led the rally, which started from Gari Khata and terminated at the press club, said that it was incumbent upon the government to remember all the great personalities of Islam who sacrificed their lives for the lofty cause.

Allama Sufi Raza Mohammad Abbasi, Mufti Naimatullah Naqshbandi, Qari Niaz Ahmed, Sahibzada Mahmood Ahmed Qadri, Khalid Hassan, Dr Mohammad Younus and others said they had been raising the demand for years but no government had bothered to listen to them.
