Heads of four ministries summoned in contempt pleas

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday summoned heads of four ministries and departments in separate contempt cases.

The contempt petitions filed by Raja Saifur Rehman advocate for a number of employees of these ministries were against Secretary Health Mohammad Ayub Sheikh, Secretary Climate Change Arif Ahmad Khan, Director General National Commission for Human Development Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik and former chief commissioner Islamabad Tariq Pirzada.

The counsel for the petitioners con-tended before Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi that despite regularisation of their services on the directions of the court, the authorities concerned had not paid their increased salaries.

The court had in March last year directed the respondents to release the salaries of the petitioners.

The counsel argued that the authorities floated the court orders.

They were supposed to appear before the court after implementing the orders.

He requested the court to take an appropriate action against the respondents for disobeying the court orders.
