GWADAR: Armed men shot dead five persons in the Mand area of Kech district and also set their vehicle on fire on Monday.

According to Levies officials, the car was intercepted by the attackers in Aasikan nullah area near Ispe Kahaan, some 25km off Mand town, who opened indiscriminate fire, resulting in instant death of the five occupants.

The attackers then set the car on fire. As a result, bodies of the victims were burntbeyond recognition.

Levies and Frontier Corps personnel shifted the charred bodies to Mand hospital.

The cause of the attack could not be ascertained and no one claimed responsibility for the incident till late in the evening.

The victims were identified as Abdul Qayyum, Muhammad Amin, Mahed, Nadil and Abdul Karim.

Investigation was under way as security forces launched a search operation in the area and picked up a few suspects for questioning.
