ACE accused of blackmailing officials

MANSEHRA: The district development advisory committee chairman has warned the anti-corruption establishment (ACE) officials against going after sincere and honest government servants.

`The anti-corruption officials are using blackmailing tactics during their inquiries which would not be tolerated at any cost,` said MPA Sardar Zahoor, while speaking at the committee meeting here on Wednesday.

Later, talking to mediapersons, the lawmaker said he would recommend to the government to launch probe into charges of corruption against the ACE officials.

Mr Zahoor also assailed the anti-corruption department for launching inquiry into transferred of machinery to tehsil municipal committees from the defunct local government and rural development department. He warned against political interference in government departments.

MPA Mian Ziaur Rehman and heads of different departments were also in attendance.

The meeting also decided to appoint low grade employees at the vacant posts in accordance with the chief ministers`instructions.Mr Zahoor told government employees not to follow instructions and orders of political leaders of any party.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rehman said that work on development schemes should be expedited so people could enjoy benefits of development. He asked the concerned officials to ensure timely completion of uplift projects.

Mr Zahoor and Mr Rehman said that people were suffering because of prolonged power outages and asked the government to reduce the loadshedding duration during Ramazan, at Iftar and Sehr.

They also demanded restoration of power supply to Mansehra from the Khan Khawar hydropower project.

VENDORS COMPENSATED: Mansehra deputy commissioner Zulfiqar Shah has allowed cabin holders to set up outlets in Shinkiari before Eid to earn their livelihoods.

These cabins were burnt in a fire earlier this month.

Talking to affected stall holders here on Tuesday, Mr Shah said that the district administration and the forest department would decide about space and size of each cabin after Eidul Fitr.

Assistant commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan was also in attendance.
