Honour for police

MUZAFFARGARH: The Pakistan Day became a unique event for the Punjab police when one of its officers got a medal for the first time from the president of Pakistan.

CTD Inspector Iqbal Hussain Chandia received Tamgha-i-Shujaat from President Mamnoon Hussain on Pakistan Day in Islamabad.

A large number of people reached the residence of inspector Iqbal Chandia in Muzaffargarh and congratulated his brother, Akram Khan, who was the municipal committee mayor, and distributed sweets.

Mr Chandia was a CIA inspector who later joined the CTD and killed many militants in encounters. He was also the first person of the southern Punjab in the police department who received the award from the president.

A son of a retired police officer, Mr Chandia said he received the award for his bravery.

Another famous Saraiki poet Shakir Shuja Abadi also received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz award from the Punjab governor on behalf of the president. He said it was an honor for him to get the award.

Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana said he would request the prime minister to provide financial assistance to the poet and a job to his son. Correspondent
