KARACHI: Traffic police have launched an automated fine collection system for vehicles lifting and towing operations to ensure transparency and accountability and to provide facility to the motorists, said an official statement on Wednesday.

`The system is designed to control and automate all major tasks related to the lif ting and towing operations carried out by the Karachi traffic police,` added the statement.

`In the first phase, automated lifting and towing system is being implemented in two traffic sections Secretariat and Abdullah Haroon Road that would cover Passport Office, Zainab Market, Kareem Centre, Zaibun Nisa Street, Rex Centre, Sindh High Court roundabout, Kabootar Chowrangi and Paradise Chowk areas.
