TOBA TEK SINGH: The alleged killer of the young son of a Kamaliabased politician has revealed to the Toba city police he had planned two years ago to kill Waleed Ahmad and later demand ransom from his father.

A police official told reporters on Wednesday accused Arsalan Haider was a resident of some Balochistan area and was residing with his aunt (mother`s sister) in Sahiwal. He developed friendship with Waleed two years ago when they both were class fellow in a private cadet school of Jhang in matriculation.

After the completion of matriculation, Arsalan rented a house in Haseeb Garden on Canal Road inToba Tek Singh and started living in it.

On Dec 8, Arsalan brought Waleed to his rented house from the college. In the house, Arsalan had dug a pit. When Waleed asked him about it, Arsalan told him he wanted to fix a tandoor in the pit.

Police said according to the accused, Waleed who was later buried in the pit, also helped him dig the pit. After the digging was done, Arsalan said, he offered Waleed a soft drink spiked with sedatives. He said he tied Waleed with a rope and took his pictures with his mobile phone. When he fell unconscious, Arsalan injected him poison which he had bought from Lahore.

He later buried Waleed in the pit late on Dec 8 and levelled it with cement layers. He said he hadplanned to flee to Balochistan and upload Arsalan`s pictures on a social media site just to show his family that Waleed was alive and in his custody. Once in touch with the family, he would ask them to pay millions as ransom.

When Waleed did not reach his home in Kamalia on Dec 8, his father, Faisal Qazzafi, called his son`s friends and came to know that he was with Arsalan in Toba. On Dec 9 morning, Qazzafi along with police arrived at the rented house when Arsalan was about to flee the scene.

During preliminary questioning, he confessed to killing Waleed and on his information, police seized the body from the house.

Qazzafi was a PTI candidate for PP-89 in the 2013 elections.
