Female Levies deputed at Nadra centre in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: The Khyber Agency political administration on Tuesday assigned for the first time official responsibilities to three female personnel of Levies Force in LandiKotal.

Naila Jabar, Mehak Pervaiz and Rif f at Bibi were inducted into Khyber Levies in early 2016 after appearing for medical and physical tests alongside hundreds of male applicants. All the three selected female personnel belong to local Christian families. It was for the first time that local female applied for recruitment in the newly raised Levies Force.

Irshad Mohmand, the political tehsildar of Landi Kotal, said that thethree female were assigned the job of body search at the local Nadra centre and the main gate at the army camp for the convenience of local women visiting Nadra centre, situated inside the army camp. He said that the locations where the female personnel were deputed were comparatively `soft` as the administration wanted them to adjust and acclimatise themselves with future tough tasks.

Mr Mohmand said that the female personnel were respected by their male colleagues and every possible ef fort would be made to provide them allthe perks and privileges.

Meanwhile, authorities deported on Tuesday 25 Afghan nationals toAfghanistan at the Torkham border.

Officials said that all the deported Afghans were caught at the border while crossing over into Pakistan without legal travel documents. They were kept in Landi Kotal lockup for necessary questioning and were later deported to their country.

Also at the Torkham border, the Khasadar Force and Customs of ficials foiled attempts to smuggle narcotics from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

Officials said that at least 16 kilogramsof charaswere concealedinhidden cavities of a truck coming from Afghanistan. The khasadars recovered the contraband and arrested the driver of the vehicle.-Correspondent
