TAXILA: Robbers killed a security guard and looted cash worth millions from a bank in Jand on Wednesday.

Police said the robbers barged into a bank in Khunda village and held the staff hostage.

The bank`s security guards tried to overpower the robbers but they opened fire on them and escaped with around Rs500,000 in cash.

The guard, Ansar Mehmood, and Sardar Asad Ali received multiple bullet injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital where Ansar succumbed to his injuries. Asad Ali was shifted to a hospital in Rawalpindi.

On receiving information, police officials reached the crime scene and collected evidence and registered a case on the complaint of the bank manager.

Later, the district police officer, Zahid Marwat, also visited the crime scene and gathered information. He told newsmen that different teams had been formed to trace the culprits.
