Three hitmen arrested, weapons seized

KARACHl: Police`s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday arrested three alleged hit-men belonging to a political party and seized hug quantity of arms and ammunition from their custody in North Karachi, according to the SSP CTD Intelligence Wing, Amir Farooqi.
Speaking at press conference at his office in Civil Lines, the senior officer said that acting on tip off, the police detained Mudasir Ali, Shafqat Ali and Mohammed Faiz from North Karachi.
They belonged to a militant wing of a political party, added the officer without naming any group.
The police claimed to have seized one machine gun, two LMGs, three 7-MM rifles, one Kalashnikov and other arms and ammunition from their custody.
They had allegedly killed three men near Ama Park at UP Mor on `ethnic grounds.` Besides, they were also allegedly involved in killing a driver of mini-bus at Nagan Chowrangi during strike call. They had also allegedly carried out an armed attack on a local leader of their supposed rival political party.
The CTD SSP, Mr. Farooqi said they had allegedly hidden `huge quantity of weapons` somewhere in the city and the police were trying to seize them.
