PUASA meets today to discuss LDA move

LAHORE: The Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) will hold its general body meeting at Al-Razi Hall on Friday (today) to decide a future course of action to cope with the Lahore Development Authority move to acquire land of their housing society for constructing a depot for the Orange Line Metro Train.

A senior official of the association told Dawn on Thursday that the government should stop `playing hide and seek` with the teachers.

`On one hand, Khwaja Ahmed Hassaan assures us thatthe houses of teachers will not be affected due to construction of the train terminal while survey teams continue attempting to enter our housing society,` said the of ficial. Meanwhile, PUASA President Dr Hasan Mobeen Alam vowed to continue the protest till a formal announcement by the chief minister to change the proposed venue for the metro train terminal.

`Teachers have built their houses after paying for 13 years installments of the cost of land,` he said in a statement. Staff Reporter
