LAHORE: The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Tuesday announced the result of the annual secondary school certificate examination.

Of total 226,619 candidates, 167,131 have been declared successful with a pass percentage of 73.7.

The students who got first, second and third positions were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals and Rs20,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000, respectively in a ceremony at Alhamra.

Provincial ministers Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Rana Mashhood Ahmed gave away gold medals to their teachers as well.

Speaking on the occasion, BISE Chairman Prof Chaudhry Ismail said the board had presented the result without any R.L. (result late) cases for the first time. He said transparency had been ensured inthe result.

Umer Tariq of the Teach A Child High School for Boys, Johar Town, who got overall first position in both science and humanities groups with 1,087 marks, expressed his wish to become a scientist.

SAHIWAL: Punjab Minster for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani says the Punjab government is extending full support to public sector educational institutions to improve their quality.

He was addressing the function hosted by the Sahiwal BISE to distribute cash awards and prizes among the position-holder students of the Matric exam at Tajumal Hussain Auditorium of the Divisional Public School (DPS).

The passpercentageintheboard remained 78pc. The top three positions were bagged by girls. The percentage among the boys science students was 80pc while it was 88pc among the girls. In general group, boys and girls` pass percentage was 56pc and 73pc, respectively.

BAHAWALPUR: TheBahawalpur BISE announced the result of the matriculation examination at the board office.

PunjabMinisterforCooperatives Malik Iqbal Channar gave away prizes and medals to the position holders in the ceremony.

According to BISE Chairman Rana Masood Akhtar, the pass percentage remained 76.90 as 57,310 candidates out of total 74,521 were declared successful in the exam.

SARGODHA: Punjab Irrigation Minister Amantullah Shadi Khel says the young generation has taken over the control of the country and the government is giving a priority to provision of quality education to the youth which is apparent from endowment funds and laptop schemes.

He was addressing a medals and certificate distribution ceremony held for the position holders of the Secondary School Certificate exam. He commended the girls for performing well in the examinations as well as in every walk of life.

Sargodha CommissionerNadeem Mehboob also spoke while BISE chairman, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz, officials of the board and heads of different schools along with parents and students were also present.

GUJRANWALA: The BISE organised a ceremony here to distribute prizes and certificates among the position holders of the matric exams.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Minister for Women Progress Hamida Waheeduddin stressed the role of education for bringing about progress and prosperity.

According to BISE Controller Examination Dr Tanveer, 210,770 candidates had taken part in the exam and 166,813 passed with the success ratio of 79.15pc.

City Police Officer Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, MPA Haji Abdul Rauf Mughal, Taufique Ahmed Butt, Secretary Board Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and Dr Muhammad Tanveer Zafar, Director Colleges Sarfaraz Ahmed Virk and others attended the ceremony.
